Meeting called to order at 7:10 pm
Old Business:
Minutes of the 11/15/2011 Meeting read and approved unanimously.
New Business:
Darrin Prescott and Eric Roddy of CTC Electric to present a plan to construct a large-scale above-ground solar photovoltaic installation on the Deming Family Property on 1403 New Boston Road, Tolland MA.
Chairman Deming recuses himself and the presentation proceeds.
CTC has approached the Deming Family to install a 35 acre solar photovoltaic project on their property. This project is for a 6 megawatt installation. The electricity will be converted on site by invertors and transferred to the existing grid. In turn the electricity produced will be exchanged to credits from the Commonwealth of MA and the Electric Co. that will be auctioned and the resulting profit turned back to CTC for its investment in the project. The property will be leased for 20 years with two 10 year extensions possible.
The project will be set back 300 ft from New Boston Road, the array area will have 100ft setbacks from existing wetlands; it will have a 50ft setback to the west, a 100ft buffer to the east and a 230ft buffer to the south.
The meeting was opened for questions and answers.
To note: No hazardous substances or negligible noise will result from the installation. Invertors are all
- UL listed and are controlled by the guidelines of the National Grid.
- Sightlines to the site are negligible; State and Federal Grants/Subsidies are available for these projects and are encouraged and supported by the State as a directional away from reliance on fossil fuel
- CTC asks that they be able to present their plans formally at the next meeting for a site plan approval.
